Design Training In 6 Simple Steps

Whether you're an experienced facilitator looking to formalise your skills, or perhaps you're adapting an existing event for a virtual audience, or entrusting others to deliver your programs, you will want to ensure that your training remains effective, engaging, and impactful.

In either case, following your instincts and relying on your years of experience, leaves too much to chance. You need to get what's in your HEAD onto paper.

Get Great Content Out Of Your Head & Scope Out A Training Course That Will Deliver Results

As an expert in your field, it can be difficult to see the wood for the trees. You can be too close to the content to approach the design objectively.  This course will allow you to follow a simple process to get great content out of your head and scope out a training course that will deliver results – whether it's face to face or virtual.

Using 4 Pillars of Training Design will focus your mind (and attention) on what really matters when designing a great training session. It doesn't matter if that session is to be delivered face-to-face or virtually.

Following these principles will guarantee your training will be a success if you have:

been asked to run specialist sessions on specific topics and don't want to deliver a lecture
moved into training from an operational role, maybe on a secondment
experience as a consultant or coach and want to add training to your services

This short course on designing training is exactly what you need!

"It was very enjoyable. I'm an experienced trainer and have designed quite a few workshops without any formal training so it's great to have a structure I can follow. I really related to this workshop and it has confirmed my belief that a clear answer to why and having a clearly defined outcome is essential. Thank you very much"

Design Training in 6 Simple Steps

"Design Training In 6 Simple Steps is a great introduction to training design, as well as a useful refresher to be reflective about correcting bad habits"

Around 75 minutes of video tutorials which you can watch at your own pace. You don’t need to complete it all in one go, and you can revisit lessons as often as you like.

This course is the perfect place to start if you’re new to training design.

Absolutely! You can draw on all your experience and understand why certain approaches work better than others and build that in to your future courses in a more planned and robust way.

No – the course is for you to use as you see fit. It’s not about passing a test, it’s about discovering how to design quality training quickly.

No – because there is no test, there’s no accreditation.

The 6 steps are applicable to live (in person), live (virtual) AND e-learning courses. However, it is delivered assuming that you’re going to be delivering a live event. It’s a good foundation for e-learning design but it won’t cover any technical things that you may need to consider if this is what you’ll be designing.

I’m afraid not. Please watch the two first lessons to make sure it’s going to be right for you, and contact me if you have any further questions.

The course is a self-directed course, but you can ask any questions you have in the Training Designer’s Club Facebook group. Or become a VIP and get easy access to me and other L&D professionals when you need it.
