Most L&D professionals, whether employed or self-employed are comfortable consulting and researching a learning solution that they are going to deliver. But what if you're asked to DESIGN a solution only? ‌

The basic consultancy process is exactly the same, but if you've never really worried too much about the design (as it's just a means to an end), you may find yourself in difficulty if you take EXACTLY the same approach. There is an extra layer of investigation to do when scoping out the project that only applies to design-only projects. ‌
